Jon is an unusual data scientist. Originally trained in political science, he combines his passion for data and modeling with a keen eye for organizational politics and the business value of data. Jon knows that getting value out of your data is as much a question of organizational politics as it is of model performance. He takes pride in ensuring that data is activated in the internal organization or external communications.
Jon is a true method agnostic – an occupational hazard from his years of employment in academia. This allows him to work with all kinds of data, from hardcore predictive modeling of customer behavior to text-as-data analysis of word embeddings and brand mentions in social media posts. Regardless of the problem, any good analysis should generate actionable insights that can be activated in communication at scale.
In his spare time, Jon is a long-distance runner and an outdoor enthusiast, and he brings this mindset on his projects. In a business where there’s a lot of talk about ‘sprinting a marathon,’ Jon prefers careful and methodical planning – the data shows that this is how you get sustainable results.
Bonus info: Jon is a former Scoutmaster and he loves to spend time cooking over a bonfire with his two boys.
